Local Economic Area Report – Custom Area
The Local Economic Area Report, offered alongside the Federal Economic Area Report, summarizes the demographics, consumer behavior and economic trends in a specific area. These two new reports support Association outreach on government affairs and economic development.
The local report can now be generated for a custom area, drawn by the user, that is the size of a census block group or larger. In addition, users can now generate reports using the boundaries of state legislative districts.
These report types are offered exclusively to Association staff Governmental Affairs Directors (GADs) and NAR members acting as Federal Political Coordinators (FPCs). The new reports are accessed via “Advanced Data Tools,” a portal that contains the MLS and Association Dashboards and Broker Tools.
As shown below, the user can draw a custom map area combining whole ZIP codes, census block groups and other available geographies to yield a report for the unique area of interest to the user. In step one of the map tool, the user sketches out a rough boundary for the area of interest.
In step two, the user sees the ZIP codes (or other geography selected by the user) that correspond to the sketched area. Components can be deselected or added before running the report.
Search by Township and Minor Civil Division
In some parts of the country, townships and other Minor Civil Divisions (MCDs) are the primary governmental or administrative divisions of a county. MCDs include tribal reservations, assessment districts, barrios, boroughs, grants, parishes and other entities. RPR now supports searching by these divisions.
Simply enter the name of the MCD in the search bar, as you would enter a city or any other location, to search for properties. You can also overlay the outlines of townships and other MCDs on the map when searching.
Other enhancements in this release include:
- More information, including lot size, displayed on the Property Details page for Land listings.
- A Recently Leased designation for Commercial properties.
- Support for “designee” NAR members to create accounts and become RPR users.
- Improvements to the Association and MLS Dashboards, including Data Feeds and Market Data information.
- RPR is preparing a mobile application suite for the iPhone and Android operating systems that will include many helpful features for agents on the go.
